“I really didn’t know what to expect,” says Stephanie Williamson of being asked to join Tri Kappa.

“But once I was in it and realized what we did, I absolutely fell in love with it. I love to help people.”

Stephanie has lived in Bloomington for over a decade and raised two children here. Now that she and her husband are empty-nesters, she realizes she has a little more time on her hands to spend on philanthropic causes. Tri Kappa has fit the bill perfectly.

“Tri Kappa is a good avenue to get to help others,” Stephanie says. “(Before I joined) I wondered what I could do to help someone else.”

The accountant at Custom Mechanical Systems Corp. has decided to take on the treasurer’s roll in Tri Kappa. However, her passion lies with the Grants Committee.

“I love taking the money we fundraise and seeing how we can help community organizations,” she says.

All in all, Stephanie says Tri Kappa is mainly about the sisters she has made over the last few years.

“Tri Kappa is getting to know a lot of different women in the community who are, by the way, freaking amazing women!” she laughs.

“Getting to know women while helping others at the same time — that’s what makes Tri Kappa amazing.”
