Cassie Amadio

“I love our sense of community,” says Tri Kappa’s Cassie Amadio. “And we’re also a group of women who have each other’s backs. That’s really nice, too. As an outsider (to Bloomington), it’s been great to tap into friendships that people have had for years.”

Cassie was raised with her three siblings in Warsaw, where she attended Tippecanoe Valley High School. She and her siblings are still very close – they each own a lake house on the same street!

A finance and accounting major with a French minor at Manchester University, Cassie studied abroad for a year in France and Togo.

“I was in Strasbourg (France) and then got a grant for an internship in Togo with the Pathways organization that does microloans for women,” Cassie says. “It was an awesome experience.”

Following college, Cassie worked as a certified public accountant in Indianapolis and then took a position in the controller’s office at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business in 2012. While there, she started master’s programs in strategic management and business administration.

After 11 years at IU, Cassie moved on to Stonybrook University in Long Island, where she now serves remotely as university controller and associate vice president.

She also taught K201 during her time at Kelley, and that’s where she met Tri Kappa’s Caitlyn Thompson.

“Caitlyn asked me if I was interested in joining Tri Kappa for at least a year,” Cassie laughs, “but I was working full time and working on my master’s. Finally, I decided Tri Kappa would be a nice way to get to know more people, away from a work setting.”

She acknowledges she made a good decision.

“It’s beautiful that Tri Kappas kind of immerse ourselves within the Bloomington community,” Cassie says.

Cassie met her husband, Nick, at a Notre Dame football game. They have two sons, Luca and Lorenzo (Enzo). She also serves on the boards of the Bloomington Developmental Learning Center and the Children’s Organ Transplant Association.
