Beverly Martinez

“I was really looking to kind of step outside my comfort zone,” says Beverly Martinez when asked why she joined Tri Kappa. “I’m a homebody. Tri Kappa was going to be a place where I could meet women and form relationships with women. It would force me to be not so shy.”

Sponsored by Trish Surfus, Beverly said the Alpha chapter hasn’t let her down. She loves what Tri Kappa does for the Bloomington community.

“We really don’t do huge events, but we make this huge impact in the community,” Beverly says. “It’s kind of neat to see when we come together what we can do.”

The Monroe County native lives in Ellettsville with her husband, Jeff, and son Caden. An Indiana University graduate, Beverly is the community manager at Fountain Park Apartments.

Beverly loves both Tri Kappa’s Blingo project and being in charge of the Secret Sister Committee.

A self-described introvert, she was nervous before the spring’s “Blingo” event, as she helped up front and center with the number draw.

“Trish told me we were going to have fun,” Bev says. “And, well, Blingo was a blast!”
