Angie Martin

Angie Martin got to know her best friend through Tri Kappa.

“I never would have met Aggie (Sarkissian) if it hadn’t been for Tri Kappa,” the Danville native said. “There are so many interesting people in Tri Kappa.”

Martin has served as president, vice president, corresponding secretary and recording secretary of the Alpha chapter. She has also served Tri Kappa as the Province III officer and state historian.

Many years ago, when Bev McGuire and Linda Gibson asked her to join the local sorority, she was looking for a philanthropic group that would fit into her busy lifestyle.

“I had four children age six and under, and I wanted to join an organization where I could make a difference,” she said. “(Tri Kappa has) one meeting where I do my commitments and the money (we make) gets funneled out to all these different places.”

The former school teacher says her favorite Tri Kappa event has to be “Blingo” these days.

“It was a lot of fun, lots of energy, and a lot of nice ladies came to support us,” she says.

Angie and her husband, Tom, are members of the First United Methodist Church in Bloomington.
