Joslyn Ellison
“I came back to the active chapter because I wanted to be involved again,” says Joslyn Berry Ellison, an Alpha Plus member. “I like to give back to the community.”
Joslyn is certainly in a Tri Kappa family. Her mom, Sue Berry, has been involved with the local chapter “for like forever,” Joslyn laughs. Her sister, Michelle Berry Domer, also is active in the Alpha chapter. Joslyn’s three daughters, Cherryl, Samantha and Katie, have all been legacy initiates, as was her niece, Riley.
The Btown native was graduated from Bloomington North High School in 1984. She attained a food-management degree from Ball State University four years later. That’s where she met her husband, Brian. They moved to the Indianapolis area after graduation, and her first job was as a shift manager at Noble Roman’s. She then worked for Nutrisystem until her first daughter was born.
The Ellisons left Indy for a five-year stint in Georgia before finally landing back in Bloomington in 2001. Joslyn had been active in the Fishers Tri Kappa while in Indy and was glad to be able to reaffiliate with her home chapter.
“I was cheeseball queen many, many years ago,” Joslyn laughs. “I made buckeyes each year for the Christmas Bazaar at Binford Elementary School. You gotta make your buckeyes!”
Joslyn worked for her sister and father at their law firm for over 17 years and now enjoys her job as a receptionist at Community Ford Lincoln here in town.
Even as an Alpha Plus member, Joslyn still treasures making new friends through Tri Kappa.
“I want to get to know people more, mix it around,” Joslyn says. “I don’t aspire to sell the most cheeseballs, and I do spend money at Blingo and buying flowers. But it’s getting to know people better that I like most about Tri Kappa.”
